Health Service Under Utilised

Last modified: November 19, 2009 - 10:24 PM

Moama residents have access to an excellent service provided by Greater Southern Area Health Service, being the Moama Community Health Service - which caters for both town and rural residents. However, only a small percentage of people are aware it exists.

The Community Nurse's duties include wound care for post operative patients as well as those with chronic wounds or injuries which require regular dressing. In addition, they provide social support, assists with medications, conducts assessments and carries out a monitoring role. Palliative care is also provided to those nearing the end of their lives, as well as support for their loved ones during this difficult period. All services are free and referrals can be made by any interested person.

The service is located at the rear of the Martin Street Medical Centre and the Community Nurse can be contacted on (03) 5482 4399.
