Water Restrictions - Stage 3

The NSW State Government has advised Council that it can lift water restrictions from Stage 3A to Stage 3. Stage 3 Water restrictions now apply from the 15th January 2008 until further notice.

Council has only been allowed to lift the restrictions due to previously purchasing water, therefore the raw water charge for the period 1st October to 31st March will remain at 65c/KL.

What can and can't I do during Stage 3 water restrictions?

Even numbered houses & those without a number can water on Saturday and Tuesday (between 8am - 10am and 4pm – 6pm)

Odd numbered houses can water on Sunday and Wednesday (between 8am - 10am and 4pm – 6pm)

There is no watering on Monday, Thursday and Friday

Lawns

Lawns can not be watered by residents and local businesses. There are some exempt playing surfaces and Council parks that can be watered.

Hand-held Trigger Hose

Hand-held hoses fitted with a trigger nozzle can be used to water gardens between 8am - 10am and 4pm – 6pm on your appointed day.

Manual Dripper Systems

Manual dripper systems can be used between 8am - 10am and 4pm – 6pm on your appointed day.

Automatic Dripper Systems

Automatic dripper systems can be used between midnight - 4am on your appointed day.

Vehicle Washing

Hand-held hoses or high pressure cleaning devices can not be used for vehicle washing, at any time. A bucket filled from a tap can be used to clean windows, mirrors and lights and spot-remove corrosive substances. A commercial car wash can be used.

Pools and Spas

A new pool or spa cannot be filled from a Murray Shire Council water supply. Pool companies and owners must provide evidence that water has been obtained from an alternative source if the pool is to be filled. Pools should be fitted with a cover to prevent water lose through evaporation. An existing pool or spa can only be topped by an automated system or by means of a hand held hose, fitted with a trigger nozzle.

Penalties and Enforcement

Stage 3 water restrictions must be followed. If you are issued with a warning notice and still breach the restrictions, you may have your water supply restricted or face prosecution.
