The Victorian Minister for Roads and Ports announced in December 2007, that agreement in principle had been reached between the Campaspe and Murray Shires and the Yorta Yorta Nation Aboriginal Corporation (YYNAC), to further investigate the Mid - West route for a second Murray River crossing at Echuca-Moama.

The Mid - West route has the potential to provide an effective link between Warren Street and the Cobb Highway, crossing the Murray River downstream of the Echuca Caravan Park. Information on the study is available from VicRoads.
