On 14 January 2016, the Minister for Local Government, The Hon Paul Toole MP, appointed Anthony Mark Hudson as Commissioner to hold a Public Inquiry under section 438U of the Local Government Act 1993 into Murray Shire Council.

The Murray Regional Algal Coordinating Committee today (01/03/16) announced a further expansion of the red alert warning for blue-green algae in the Murray River, which now extends from Albury to Torrumbarry Weir, including the Mulwala Main Canal offtake.
